As specialists in Clinical Psychology we are able to offer bespoke assessment and intervention packages which promote positive psychological development, to the benefit of children, young people, families and care givers.
The therapeutic interventions we offer include:
Therapy based on Theraplay® principles lay is a playful, interactive way to build attachment, self-confidence and trust between a child and their family or care giver. Adaptable for use across a range of age groups (from babies to teenagers) Theraplay® is based on building positive relationships and focuses on four qualities: structure, engagement, nurture and challenge.
Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy
Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) is a family intervention which supports adopted or fostered children, who as a result of experiencing neglect or abuse in their past, may find it difficult to trust and build connections with their families and caregivers.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an intervention which we implement to empower children and young people to manage their problems with a positive mindset. By breaking down problems into smaller challenges and discussing the links between thoughts, behaviour and emotions, the child or young person can see how to improve their overall mental well-being.
Therapeutic Parenting is a parenting approach based on high nurture/ high structure tactics and is specifically focused on parenting for children and young people who have experienced trauma in their past. By adding structure to a nurturing environment, a positive relationship founded on trust and security can be created.
Systemic Family Therapy
Systemic Family Therapy brings together families to tackle problems by encouraging family members and caregivers to understand each other and change patterns of communication. This intervention recognises the emotional health of the family is reliant upon all members of the family and encourages making positive changes to improve relationships.
Multi-Dimensional Treatment Foster Care (MTFC) is a behavioural therapy intervention which is typically used with children or young people who have challenging behavioural problems. On a case by case basis we develop an intervention programme which supports caregivers in managing behaviour and encouraging the skills needed to be part of a family.
